Crazy teachers, early nights Hot instructors, scary frights Chilli sauce, beautiful sights Fast skiing, great holiday, right! Kate Doodson Sat. Left Manchester for short flight to Heathrow then on to San Francisco. A 4 hour coach ride then took us to the Horizon hotel for pizza and then to bed to rest. Sun. Early morning ski fit and then we met our ski instructors. Buffet meal in the evening. Mon Second day of skiing. Hot tubs, buffet meal followed by a choice of films at the cinema (Juno or National Treasure 2). Apparently do not bother with Juno. Tues Third day of hot, sunny weather. Groups now all skiing well - most onto blue runs. Trainee casino visit (the arcades). We all did very well on a limit of $5.00 Wed Colder today with strong winds. Took yellow cabs to see Tahoe Firebirds ice hockey team loose 11 to 3. Thurs. Very cold, windy. Ben cawthorne 38secs on giant slalom beating his instuctor and the rest of his group around 40 seconds. The resort and hill champion took 30 seconds. Hard rock cafe and then arcades. Fri. Skied all day, group 1 had intro to snowboarding while group three tackled the steepest run in the resort, lower main. Hot tubs and shops in the evening. Last buffet meal. Bridgewater awards in the eveing (see below) Sat. A large buffet breakfast saw us speed ourway back to San Francisco and then onto Heathrow. 1/ Most Progress - zero to hero on Skis - Paddy 2/ Best snow plough (wedge) - Keiran 3/ Most determined skier - Harrison 4/ Fastest descent in a snow plough (wedge) - Grace 5/ Most improved skier over the week - Esme 6/ Biggest bale - Jonny Nichols 7/ Only person to break a ski - Georgina 8/ Best sunburn - Lydia 9/ Lowest pants - Jacko 10/ Craziest hat - Lee 11/ Bravest soldier (ill every day but still skied) - Dom 12/ Biggest toilet blockage - Matt J 13/ Best "teacher wipeout" - Caitlin 14/ Most chaos created with chilli sauce - Georg |
