Year 9 Religious Studies @ Bridgewater High School.

During this year you will study three main topics;

Term 1: Religion & Science.
During the first term we will look at some of the big questions in life. Where does the universe come from? What is God like? We will explore these questions in class by discussing the work of scientists and some of the most famous religious philosophers. It is hoped that by the end of this unit you might have some of your own opinions on these really difficult questions.

Term 2: Good and Evil.
In the second term we will look at topics associated with the good, and the evil in our world. We explore these topics from the perspective of the worlds religions and ask the questions; Where does the evil in our world come from, and why do people still believe in God when bad things happen in our lives?

Term 3: Global Issues.
Our final topic of the year is global issues. In this topic we begin by looking at a case study of Rwanda and the genocide that took place there in the mid 1990's. We examine this period of African history whilst studying forgiveness and reconciliation. After this pupils will have an independent study module in which they pick a topic of their own interest with a religious link and produce their own independent study. In the past, pupils have chosen to study everything from Islamaphobia to the Da Vinci Code
