Welcome to the Psychology pages of Bridgewater High School

Psychology is the scientific study of people, the mind and behaviour. It is both a thriving academic discipline and a vital professional practice.
The Human Brain

Psychologists and psychological research have a big impact on all aspects of public life, particularly in areas such as education, health, the economy, industry and social justice.

At Bridgewater we follow the AQA Psychology Specification A which enables us to study numerous topics in Psychology including:

  • How our memory works and ways to improve it
  • Stress and how to manage it
  • Abnormality and how to define it
  • Obedience and who will resist it
  • Love and how to find it
  • Child development and how to assist it
  • Intelligence and how to measure it
  • Schizophrenia and how to explain it
  • Influence of the Media and how significant it is.
In order to understand these topics we learn how to apply psychological theory, including the work of theorists such as Freud, Watson & Rayner, Skinner, Loftus and Bowlby, to numerous types of human behaviour.  We also conduct small and large scale research projects using a variety of research methods, such as laboratory experiments, observations and surveys.

Join us for Psychology AS this year and get to know yourself better!

Or continue with A2 in 2008 and follow the old specification
