1	Solve equations by trial and improvement - a wide variety of equations that pupils have covered during the year - useful as a checking strategy when pupils solve equations properly
2-3	Solve quadratic equations by trial and improvement giving the answer to 1 decimal place
4-6	Either extend algebra covered this year e.g. solving more difficult equations with negative and/or fractional answers solving equations with fractions factorising more complicated expressions expanding more complicated brackets substituting positive, negative or fractions into more complicated expressions Or use strategy games/investiagtions to put algebraic skills into practise
