1
Factorising expressions including powers into 1 bracket

ICT; Algebra: Use of Symbols: Factorising Linear

 2 Expanding brackets

ICT; Algebra: Use of Symbols: Brackets: Lessons 1-4

3
Looking at the simple quadratics from lesson 2 and looking for a connection between the numbers in the question and the numbers in the answer

Factorising quadratics where the constant is positive

ICT; Algebra: Use of Symbols: Factorising Linear: Lesson 1, 4-6

4
Factorising quadratics where the constant is negative
Method: e.g. for x2 – 5x – 24
List pairs of numbers that multiply to make -24
2, -12        -2, 12           6, -4        -6, 4             etc.
Then add the numbers in each pair until you get -5
-10              10                2              -2              etc.

ICT; Algebra: Use of Symbols: Factorising Linear: Lesson 2-3
