1
Basic Angle facts
Starter: recap angle rules:
Angles on a straight line add up to 180
Angles about a point add up to 360
Angles in a triangle add up to 180
Main:  recap angles in parallel lines
 Corresponding angles are equal
 Alternate angles are equal
Interior angles add up to 180
Angles between parallels CB

 2 Angles in quadrilaterals
Starter - use the following powerpoint to recap properties of quadrilaterals - pupils to complete worksheet
Quadrilaterals Powerpoint CB
Main - pupils practise finding angles in special quadrilaterals

 Brown Text page 354 Q10-15
3
Drawing and measuring bearings including being used in scale drawings
Bearings powerpoint

Bearings
Starter - use the following powerpoint to introduce bearings, estimate measure and draw bearings
Bearings Powerpoint CB
Main - pupils practise questions
Brown Text Ex 2.7 page 327

4
Scale Drawings
Starter - go through an example using easiteach link to demonstrate how to use bearings in scale drawings
Scale Drawings Easiteach CB
Main - pupils practise questions
Brown Text Ex 27.8 page 329 Q7 - 12

5
Angles in polygons
Starter - use the following powerpoint to recap the angle sum of any polyon - pupils to complete first worksheet as a class. Pupils then find interior angles in regular polygons and irregular polygons in their books (no worksheet)
Interior Angles Powerpoint CB
Main - use mymaths to demonstrate that the exterior angles in any poygon add up to 360 and how this can be used to find interior and exterior angles in regular polygons.
Exterior angles Mymaths
Pupils to complete exercise on angles in polygons
Brown Text Ex 31.2 pg 365

6
Circle theorems
1. Angle in semi-circle is aright angle
2. Angle at centre is twice angle at circumference
Circle Theorems Powerpoint

Circle theorems
Starter - use the following powerpoint to recap parts of a circle and introduce 3 theorems, working through problems as a class
The angle subtended at the centre of a circle is twice as big as the angle subtended at the circumference of the circle
The angle in a semi circle is 90 degrees
Angles subtended by an arc/chord in the same segment are equal
Circle Theorems 1 Powerpoint CB
Main - introduce pupils to a 4th theorem, stick 'what you need to know' sheets in exercise books and complete exercise on the worksheet
Opposite angles in a quadrilateral add up to 180 degrees

Brown Text Ex 32.1 Q1-3

7
Circle theorems
1. Angle in same segment are equal
2. Opposite angles in a quadrilateral add up to 180

Circle Theorems Powerpoint

More Circle Theorems
Starter - use the following powerpoint to introduce the final 3 theorems, working through problems as a class
The angle between a tangent and a radius is 90 degrees at the point of contact
The alternate segment theorem
Two tangents drawn from an external point P are equal in length
Circle Theorems 2 Powerpoint CB
Main - pupils practise questions on the worksheet
