The Year  8 course has only been implemented in September 2009, following on from the new year 7 course pupils followed last year. It aims to bring alive the new National Curriculum and provide pupils with invaluable skills necessary for Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 History and adult life.

As with the Year 7 course, there are 6 themes which will be focused on. These themes aim to allow pupils to appreciate the 'big picture' of History; for example: to evaluate which monarch did more to win people over or to question whether society always benefits from change. Each theme has a key question which will provide the focus and the knowledge to be covered.

This continuation of the new History curriculum also includes a wide range of skill based activities. The aim is that these skills will assist pupils across the whole curriculum and will help make students more independent and analytical learners, whilst also developing their social skills.

Overall, Year 8 History will be engaging, challenging and invaluable to our pupils.
