 1.  What are Smart Materials?
 Using the sample board and QTC ppt
 Pupils are then to  choose 4 Smart Materials and explain their properties and uses. (add  images).                                                                                         
 Complete for h/w
           
 2.  Situation and Brief
 Demo with smart materials - polymorph, smart fluid, thermochromic paint, QTC, Lenticular sheet, SMA
 In table groups experiment with smart materials.
           
 3.  Groupwork - rough mindmap of areas/products where Smart mats could be used
 Pupils then to producte their own mindmap (A3)
 Complete for h/w
           
    4.
 Moodboard -
 Pupils need to choose an area from the mindmap (camping, daily routine, hobbies, make-up, toys etc)
 Choose a user (teenagers, babies, young professionals et c)
 Using the laptops begin researching images for a moodboard.
 






   5.
Complete moodboard and annotate possible ideas for products






   6.
 Ideas
 Pupils produce 4-6 ideas for products using smart materials
 At least 3 of these must be based on their moodboard
 Complete for h/w.     Example ideas sheet






   7.
Discuss branding and logos for their design
Presentation Sheet
In groups (pairs or 3s)
Pupils pick the best idea between them and begin their presenatation sheet to advertise thie idea
The sheet should include - A4 size presenatational drawing of their final product or product range
                                      - Name / logo for the product
                                      - Close-ups of detailed sections etc
                                      - Explaination of the smart material they are using and its properties






   8.
Continue the work on the presenatation sheet






   9.
 Begin planning their verbal presenatations - Dragons Den scenario
                                                                         - Pupils to pitch their product using any technique they wish
                                                                          (pitch, jingle, song, TV advert etc)

Complete planning their presenatations

 Final performances
Other pupils to use criteria sheet to mark peers
