On entry to the school all Y7 pupils will study a unit of work based around the key skills important to being a good designer.  Pupils are taught a number of short topics providing them with the skills they will need throughout KS3 in Design Technology.  The skills they are taught will be called upon through out Design and Technologies suite of subjects; Product Design, Graphic Products and Food Technology.

The L2L unit has a strong focus on developing pupils creativity, providing them with mechanisms to help stimulate their thinking.  The unit provides increased knowledge and understanding of organizing a research task, whilst providing students with experiencing of a range of methods of research.  Student do not just copy and paste off the internet!!!!

The jitterbug project is quickly becoming a Bridgewater classic, with many students having seen it at Y6 open evening.  The project intends to develop pupils creative skills and provide the opportunity for modeling in a wide range of materials.

The maze game is again a multi material project, with students experience working with woods and plastics.  There is a focus on the target market through ergonomics and the use of the vacuum former provides experience of industrial practices.
