Wooden CD Rack

This is a formulaic approach using a single material. It is difficult to establish how much of the research and analysis assisted the candidate. The final prototype is hand cut from plywood.

Candidate 2

GRP clock & packaging

This is an example of a project which evolves. The candidate addresses each area of the product as a separate activity therefore the evidence is widespread throughout the folder. The final clock is very well made and simply packaged but lacks demand.

Candidate 3

Electronic Game

This is a formulaic approach which is largely teacher directed. Most candidates had a similar box and electronics. The manufacturing shows numerous inaccuracies despite the candidate undertaking a large amount of work in this area.

Candidate 4

Wine Ease

This candidate explored their own design situation and this truly reflects a product design approach. The folder was originally submitted on PowerPoint as an electronic portfolio so the layout of some pages may appear unusual. There was a range of making evidence including development modelling and testing. The final product was manufactured using a rapid prototyping machine and suitably packaged.
