French Exchange
|
The French exchange is a new development in school,
having begun life in line with Warrington's international agreement
with the French Académie of Burgundy. Staff visits took place in
2009, both with a visit to Burgundy in February and with French staff
visiting Warrington in the October. The link takes place within a
framework that links a number of Warrington secondary schools with
schools across Burgundy, and also links clusters of Primary schools in
the same areas as the secondary schools so that the pupils can follow
the same groups of pupils in the other country from Primary school and
then through secondary school.

2011 Exchange
|
This year's exchange was a
great success. The first leg of the exchange, when the French visited
here in February, went very well with an outstanding input from
families here. A special mention has to go to those families who hosted
a French pupil without sending their child on the return visit, and to
those who took in more than one French visitor. The French put up with
our weather as well, visiting as they did during one of the wettest
weeks of the year!
Our return visit to Beaune went exceptionally well too. The group was a
delight to take, and it's worth noting that both our coach driver and
the priest in a church we visited congratulated staff on the excellent
behaviour of our pupils! The coach driver was so impressed that he
arranged an impromtu midnight tour of Paris for the group on the
journey home. A great time was had by our students, and already we have
Year 10s asking to go again, which is a great indication of how good
the experience was.
