Welcome to the I.C.T. Department pages of Bridgewater High School

Overview
The key stage 3 curriculum is adapted from the QCA schemes, and is based on units of work crossing different strands of ICT. The units are between 5 and 10 weeks long and build upon previous work. Bridgewater has adopted an e-portfolio structure where the pupils store their work on the network. The work can be viewed through an interactive workbook. ICT is taught discreetly throughout years 7-10, 1 hour per week, and is broadly set with Maths. All students have a username and their own Work area. Year11 ICT, if not taken as an option, is covered through cross-curricular activity.
Software
Considerable investment in software has been made.
Some of the software packages used in discreet ICT lessons:
· MS Office (including Publisher)
· Matchware OpenMind
· Matchware Screencorder
· Matchware Mediator Pro
· Logo

KS4
The subject of ICT is constantly changing at an alarming rate. At Bridgewater, the key stage 4 curriculum reflects that by introducing newer awards, and discontinuing the delivery of the more traditional routes. We are now in our final Y11 cohort of GNVQ ICT intermediate (AQA) and also GCSE ICT (OCR). The year 10's are studying areas of the recently introduced DIDA award (Edexcel). The compulsory unit (Aida) is being delivered to all option students. Some students may even double the award by extra study to complete the CIDA award ( 2 GCSE's equiv). Year 10 compulsory supports other subjects with it's problem solving and mind mapping tasks. Some pupils may even be accredited for an award.

Year 10 Option
The DIDA brief is found on the Edexcel website. Students are to read thoroughly and produce the necessary documents. This award is board set and is based around an e-portfolio.
