Welcome to the
Art Department of Bridgewater High School
Expressing
ideas, using your imagination and creativity, and learning new
skills.
You can do a general art and design course, where you get to
try out drawing and painting, printmaking, textiles and photography.
How is the course marked?
The marks for the course are split 60% coursework and 40% examined.
The coursework involves assignments which will be set by your
teacher. This will involve producing a completed piece of work,
and supporting work, research, and articles, showing how you
developed your ideas.
For the examination: you will be told the subjects you can choose
from 8 weeks before, this will give you time to prepare. You
will then have to complete the work under exam conditions.
Should I choose GCSE Art?
If you are creative, and enjoy talking about and exploring art
then it could be for you.
Art is fun, but it also involves a lot of hard work, most people
find that their art coursework requires more effort than they
expected.
You will need to work consistently on your coursework throughout
they year, if you tend to leave things to the last minute then
you could be in trouble.
