Teachers in secondary schools who wish to become a head of department

What will the event cover?

This event is for those teachers who are contemplating becoming head of department.  As well as giving practical advice on making an application and achieving success at interviews, it will enable delegates to look at the current role of the head of department in schools today and to consider the management skills that are required.

What will be the outcome of the event?

On completion delegates should have:

·         An understanding of how teachers can apply for head of department posts in schools

·         Knowledge about the current role of the head of department today

·         An awareness of the leadership and management skills head of departments need to develop especially those concerned with managing staff

·         An understanding of how to successfully build the management team
