JIMMY SMITHIES: Effective Parental Involvement With The Parents / Carers Of Difficult Children                £189 +vat

This event is for staff in primary and secondary schools who are involved with pastoral care / home liaison It will support the career development of school managers, pastoral care staff, attendance officers, teaching assistants, learning mentors, school based police staff and educational social workers.

 

The event will focus on creating and developing more effective parental involvement and support to improve attitudes, behaviour and achievement within the school, home and community.

 

During the day delegates will:

  • Examine the needs and expectations of pupils and parents / carers
  • Consider reasons why pupils are unco-operative. What is actually happening … who is pressing the destruct button?
  • Promote effective practice in terms of  “Every Child Matters” in tackling issues
  • Develop skills in promoting communication
  • Look at effective practice in accessing parents of pupils displaying difficulties

This event will look at a six step mediation process that will help young children to develop their social skills and enable them to resolve disputes successfully

 

Delegates will explore and experience

  • Methods of solving problems that arise during conflict
  • Identify the six steps to problem solving
  • Highlight the importance of acknowledging feelings and finding out the details of the problem
  • Identify strategies for minimising problems and identify changes to be made.
